Compact reference performance
Linn 343 Passive with Active Bass combines external amplification with Pistonik bass control
The Linn 343 Passive with Active Bass brings the cabinet, drive-unit architecture and Pistonik bass technology of Linn’s compact reference loudspeaker into a system designed around external amplification.
The upper-bass, midrange and tweeter array are driven by separate amplification, while the lower-frequency system remains active within the loudspeaker.
This creates a flexible route into 343 for listeners who want to integrate Linn’s latest loudspeaker architecture with compatible external amplification while retaining dedicated electronic control of the bass system.

Pistonik where it matters most
Active bass designed as part of the loudspeaker from the outset
343 is Linn’s first loudspeaker designed around Pistonik from the beginning.
Its lower-frequency architecture combines a 190 mm Pistonik upper-bass driver with a down-firing 220 mm Pistonik lower-bass driver.
In the PWAB configuration, the bass system uses Power DAC architecture and Pistonik motor technology, with Utopik supplying the active bass electronics.
This allows the lower frequencies to retain dedicated electronic control while the 343 array is powered by external amplification.

A cabinet shaped around sound
Compact proportions without conventional cabinet geometry
The Linn 343 cabinet uses a continuous curved form constructed from a glass-fibre-reinforced moulding compound selected for its stiffness and density.
Removing hard cabinet edges helps sound leave the loudspeaker more consistently, reducing diffraction effects that can make the physical position of a speaker easier to identify.
The curved lower body also forms part of the bass architecture, creating the internal volume and geometry required for the down-firing Pistonik system while preserving the slender front profile.
Active Pistonik bass
The lower-frequency system combines Power DAC architecture with Linn Pistonik motor technology.
External amplification
The tweeter, midrange and upper-bass array is driven by compatible external amplification.
Flexible Exakt operation
343 PWAB can operate with Exakt using a compatible Exaktbox and six amplification channels.

Reference performance with system flexibility
A 343 for externally amplified Linn systems
The PWAB model is designed for systems where the owner wants greater flexibility around external amplification.
Its three-way analogue passive crossover handles the upper-frequency array during conventional operation, while the active bass system remains electronically controlled within the loudspeaker.
For a fully Exakt configuration, the PWAB model can be used with a compatible Exaktbox and six channels of amplification.
Powered bass architecture
Power DAC and Utopik dedicated to the lower frequencies
The active bass section combines Linn Power DAC architecture with Pistonik motor technology.
A dedicated Utopik power supply supports the bass electronics within the loudspeaker, allowing the lower-frequency system to remain tightly controlled independently of the external amplifiers driving the 343 array.
This hybrid architecture is what defines the Passive with Active Bass configuration.
Four-way architecture
Specialised drive units throughout the frequency range
A 19 mm thin-ply woven carbon dome tweeter handles the highest frequencies, accompanied by a 64 mm thin-ply woven carbon dome midrange driver.
A 190 mm aluminium diaphragm Pistonik driver covers upper-bass duties.
The lowest frequencies are reproduced by a down-firing 220 mm aluminium diaphragm Pistonik driver positioned close to the floor.
Connection flexibility
Passive, active bass and Exakt connectivity
The Linn 343 PWAB provides three pairs of binding posts for the externally amplified array together with an XLR connection for the active bass section.
An Exakt Link connection is also provided for compatible external Exakt operation.
This makes PWAB suitable for a broader range of Linn system architectures while retaining the core acoustic design of the 343 platform.
Configured for the room
Space Optimisation with a compatible Linn DSM
When used with a compatible Linn DSM, 343 PWAB can form part of a Space Optimisation configuration.
For Exakt operation, the loudspeakers can be used with a compatible Exaktbox and external amplification, bringing Linn’s digital crossover architecture into the system.
Rococo Systems can specify the appropriate configuration around the source, amplification, room and listening requirements.
Six launch finishes
Choose from three Linn finish collections
The Glasgow Collection includes Clyde Built, Single Malt and Linn Heritage.
The Signature Collection offers Triton.
The Classic Collection includes Piano Black and Alpine White.
The 343 array trim is supplied in Black across all finishes.

How does 343 PWAB differ from 343 Exakt Integrated?
The Linn 343 PWAB uses external amplification for the tweeter, midrange and upper-bass array while retaining internally powered active bass.
The Linn 343 Exakt Integrated contains the digital crossover, Organik DAC architecture and amplification required for all drive-unit sections.
PWAB therefore gives greater flexibility around external amplification and existing system architecture, while Exakt Integrated provides the more self-contained configuration.
External amplification requirements
The standard PWAB configuration requires compatible external amplification for the 343 array.
For Exakt operation, Linn specifies use with a compatible Exaktbox and six amplification channels.
The appropriate amplifier configuration should be designed around the wider Linn system and listening requirements.
Compatible Linn source
343 PWAB can be used with a compatible Linn DSM, with Space Optimisation available as part of the system configuration.
For external Exakt operation, the system requires compatible Exakt processing and amplification.
Rococo Systems can confirm the correct architecture before ordering.
Professional installation through Rococo Systems
Professional system planning, delivery, installation and setup are included when the Linn 343 Passive with Active Bass Loudspeakers are purchased from Rococo Systems.
This can include placement, levelling, source and amplifier connection, active bass setup, system configuration and compatible Space Optimisation configuration.
